The
WCATWC tsunami messages are National Weather Service products.
NWS products are described by both a World
Meteorological Organization (WMO) Header and an AWIPS ID.
The following table describes the products
(click on the product for an example).
The standard warning, watch, and advisory products (WEPA41 and WEXX20)
are segmented at the end of the bulletin by Universal Generic Codes which also
contain NWS VTEC codes. Public products
were created in December, 2005. The
public products (WEAK51, WEAK53, WEXX30, and WEXX32) are in an easy-to-read
format intended for the general public and contain action statements and
information highlighting the dangers of tsunamis.
A
complete set of products issued by the WCATWC (including when in PTWC backup
mode) is described in the attached
table. Web-based products are also
created and issued by the WCATWC to its web site.
The web-based products are written in an html
format with embedded links to related information.
