TSUNAMI of 17 November, 2013 (Scotia Sea)

A major earthquake with a moment magnitude of 7.8 (USGS magnitude) occurred at 09:04:55 UTC 17 November 2013 (day 321) and was located 895 mi/1440 km SE of Ushuaia, Argentina (60.296S, 46.362W, 6.2 mi/10.0 km depth--USGS location).

This earthquake caused a tsunami that was recorded at tide gages monitored by the National Tsunami Warning Center (NTWC). Many observatories provide data to the Center; such as the NOAA National Ocean Service, the U. of Hawaii Sea Level Center, the Chilean Navy, the Japan Meteorological Ageny and the National Tidal Facility in Australia among others.
