From: NOAA/NWS/West Coast and Alaska Tsunami Warning Center (Experimental Web Product)
Subject: Tsunami Advisory #3 issued 08/15/2007 at 6:30PM PDT

This Tsunami Advisory is for residents along the California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, and Alaska coast. NO tsunami watch or warning is in effect for these areas.

A Tsunami Advisory is issued by the WCATWC whenever the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Ewa Beach, Hawaii has issued a warning for other regions in the Pacific Basin, and NO tsunami watch or warning is in effect for the states and provinces listed above. It is unlikely that these regions will upgraded to a tsunami warning or watch. Please refer to the PTWC message for further information about the warning.

A Tsunami has been observed on a deep ocean pressure sensor off northern Chile. The tsunami is not expected to threaten the US West Coast, BC, or Alaska. Based on the earthquake location, magnitude and observed tsunami records, a damaging tsunami IS NOT expected along the California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, and Alaska coasts. Some of these areas may experience non-damaging sea level changes.

At 4:41 PM Pacific Daylight Time on August 15, an earthquake with preliminary magnitude 7.9 occurred near the coast of Peru.

Messages will continue to be issued hourly by the WCATWC until the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issues a cancellation or final message. See the WCATWC web site for basic tsunami information, safety rules, and a tsunami travel time map and table. (NOTE: Travel time maps and tables indicate predicted times only, not that a wave dangerous to the U.S. west coast, British Columbia, or Alaska was generated.)
