Tsunami Information Statement issued 08/25/2008 at 6:03PM AKDT
At 5:58 PM Alaskan Daylight Time on August 25, an
earthquake with
preliminary magnitude 4.7
occurred 80 miles/129 Km southeast of Amchitka, Alaska.
The magnitude is such that a tsunami WILL NOT be
generated. This will be the only WCATWC message issued for this
event.
The location and magnitude are based on preliminary information.
Further information will be issued by the
United States Geological Survey
or the appropriate regional seismic network.
