Tsunami Information Statement issued 03/1/2008 at 2:29AM AKST
At 2:21 AM Alaskan Standard Time on March 1, an
earthquake with
preliminary magnitude 5.1
occurred 75 miles/121 Km east of Amchitka, Alaska.
The magnitude is such that a tsunami WILL NOT be
generated. This will be the only WCATWC message issued for this
event.
The location and magnitude are based on preliminary information.
Further information will be issued by the
United States Geological Survey
or the appropriate regional seismic network.
